On July 11, No.72 319,000DWT VLCC was named for delivery to China Merchants Energy Transport Co. by DSIC, which is the 8th carrier built for the same in this series, where tripartite representatives signed the Ship Delivery & Acceptance Protocol on behalf of China Merchants, CSOC and DSIC respectively. China Merchants Group Deputy Party Secretary and CFO Fu Gangfeng, CSIC Deputy GM He Jiwu, and DSIC leaders Yang Zhizhong, Cai Zhuyi, Deng Changlian and Hu Jianzhong attended the ceremony.
He Jiwu said in his speech, China Merchants Group is one of the most important strategic partners for CSIC and the two parties have always maintained a tight tie-up. CSIC Chairman Hu Wenming paid an official visit to China Merchants Group in Hong Kong on this June 1, further discussing the collaboration with Chairman Li Jianhong in offshore engineering market, new energy issue and VLCC business. The cooperation between CSIC and China Merchants Group has been broadened increasingly from the first 180,000DWT bulk carrier, 110,000DWT product carrier, to 319,000DWT VLCC delivered today, where both parties have achieved fruitful results in many projects. The “New Renown” is a new-type VLCC redeveloped and designed under concerted effort between the parties, based on benchmarking with the international advanced standards and new idea of energy saving and environmental protection, adopting the patented design for anti-sediment ballast tanks to decrease comprehensive desilting rate effectively. This marks that CSIC has made new breakthrough in terms of 300,000DWT VLCC and further consolidated its competitive strength accordingly. CSIC will continue boosting R&D level and building quality so as to furnish China Merchants Group with more excellent and efficient products and service.
Fu Gangfeng said in his speech, China Merchants Group has established profound friendship with CSIC in many years’ cooperation, and along with sustainable and steady development, would unswervingly strengthen and broaden mutual tie-up, further strengthen mutual relations, perform national vocation and achieve common development.
No.72 319,000DWT VLCC is the 7th generation of super energy-saving and environmental protection shiptype with great market potential, independently developed and designed by DSIC. During her construction, the VLCC has scored 90 marks for her undocking integrity and 93.3 marks for sea trial integrity under DSIC’s meticulous organization and careful planning. In her sea trial, all testing items are under smooth progress, all equipment under good running condition and various performance indexes excellent. It has only taken 122 hours to accomplish all sea trial inspection items, which is the least time for sea trial in this series of VLCCs with high praise received from the ship owner.
